Privacy notice for journalists
Media List is a directory of professional media contacts used by publicists, agencies and business owners to find the right reporter for a story. This notice explains what we hold about journalists, why, and how you can change it.
What we show on a journalist page
- Your name, outlet and job title.
- Headlines of articles published under your byline, each linked to the publisher's own page, with the outlet and date.
- Topics and beats we work out from those headlines and the labels publishers attach to articles.
- Anything you add yourself after claiming your page.
Public pages never show an email address, phone number, photo you did not upload, or any text from an article. We do not keep copies of articles.
What paying users can see
Your work email and work phone where we have them, and your pitching preferences if you set them.
Where it comes from
Public bylines and author pages on news websites, publisher news feeds, and the details you give us. See where our data comes from.
Why we hold it
So that people who pitch stories can find journalists who cover their topic, and pitch them less often about things they do not cover.
Your choices
- Claim and correct. Use "Claim or correct this page" on your page to fix articles, set the beats you cover and do not cover, and say how you like to be pitched.
- Remove. "Remove this page" hides it at once, with no account. We email the address we hold so you can also remove your details from search and exports.
- Do not pitch. A claimed journalist can stop being shown to users for pitching.
- Anything else. Use our opt-out page or email support@medialist.com.
A removed journalist is not added again by later updates. We answer requests within 2 business days.
Where we list journalists
Journalist pages cover journalists based in the United States who write for US outlets.
