About Me by Tykesha HELLO, AND WELCOME My name is Tykesha Spivey Burton — I’m a full-time writer, momma of two, beer drinker, and rom-com lover, and I have an insatiable wanderlust. I grew up in the tropical, tourist city of Miami, Florida, and moved to the Washington, DC area after studying Journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a native Miamian, my worldview was shaped from the perspective of international tourists and immigrants. Because of this, I have had a thirst to explore other countries most of my life. I have been fortunate to travel around the globe (albeit slowly) and visit all seven continents. Learning about as many countries and cultures as I could.
