Description
Calligraphy is often described as ‘the art of beautiful writing’ and Western calligraphy dates back to ancient Rome. It takes its name from the Greek words for beauty (kallos) and writing (graphe) and has been used for centuries to herald and record important events. Creative Calligraphy is proudly based in the north east of England, where the Lindisfarne Gospels were written by the monastic scribes of Holy Island around 715AD. Calligrapher Angela Reed specialises in traditional calligraphy scripts, including Foundational Hand, Italic, Uncial, Gothic and Copperplate.
