He has also written scholarly articles and chapters, with a particular emphasis on American literature, history, and horror, which sounds more fun than it is. He has been a writer, a teacher, a librarian, and a baker. The best job he ever had was behind the deli counter at a convenience store. It was 11pm on a Wednesday and he had school in the morning, but the coffee and sandwiches were free. He owes everything to his partner, his child, his dog, and Emily Dickinson.
