The driving energy of the NSW Liberal Party. The Young Liberals are Australia’s next generation of leaders, united by a belief in freedom, enterprise, and opportunity. Our Party's History In 1944, the Liberal Party of Australia was founded after a three-day meeting held in a small hall not far from Parliament House in Canberra. Robert Menzies, the then Leader of the Opposition had already served as Prime Minister of Australia (1939-41), but he believed that the non-Labor parties should unite to present a strong alternative government to the Australian people. The Young Liberal Movement is the youth wing of the Liberal Party, and one of the largest youth movements in Australia. The NSW Young | Renewing our Purpose Elected biennially at Young Liberal Council Elections, the NSW Young Liberal President and Executive are the leaders of the NSW YLs. The executive team is working to drive the NSW Young Liberals forward, and shape the broader Liberal party's policy platform at a time of renew
