IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is a traveling outdoor concert series where forests, fields, deserts, riverbank vistas, parks and historical sites replace the traditional concert hall. Often with guest musicians and artists relevant to each event location, classical pianist Hunter Noack performs on a 9-foot Steinway grand piano on a flat-bed trailer that serves as both transportation and concert stage. Modeled after the “silent disco” format, and to meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild, concert-goers are given wireless headphones to hear the musicians whose instruments have been outfitted with microphones. With headphones, audiences are no longer confined to seats; concert-goers can explore the landscape, wander through secret glens, lie in sunny meadows, and roam old growth forests.
