The mission of The Adoption and Foster Care Clinic is to serve the initial and ongoing medical, developmental, and emotional needs of adoptive and foster parents, their children and their communities. | Our Story The Adoption and Foster Care Clinic was originally called the International Adoption Clinic. The International Adoption Clinic was started in 2002 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Our original team consisted of three adoptive moms with a passion to see children like ours receive care from clinicians that understand their unique needs. Since then, we have served children from over 65 different countries such as China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, South Korea, Guatemala, Peru, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Ethiopia, Uganda and many, many more. In 2020, we became the Adoption Clinic when we opened our doors to children who had been domestically adopted.
