Amissville Baptist Church began as a Baptist Bible study and was eventually constituted as a local church on December 29, 1888. During its first year, ABC grew from 2 6 members to 91 members. Two years later in the summer of 1891, the church constructed and opened its current sanctuary. As the church expanded numerically and shifted from monthly meetings to weekly meetings, the saints of ABC also expanded ABC's physical footprint to include a cemetery in 1920, electricity in 1926, a fellowship hall in 1982, and air conditioning in 1986.
