Hopewell Baptist Church in Corbin Kentucky | Our Story How it all started... Hopewell Baptist Church, Corbin Kentucky, was organized in 1893 by Elder Levi Brock. The Church met in a log church building in the Hopewell Community in southern Laurel County, Kentucky. Hopewell Baptist Church, consisting of 27 members, applied for membership in the Mount Zion Association at its annual meeting in 1893, and was approved. The log church was soon replaced with a white frame church building. This church building was destroyed by fire. A second white frame church building was soon constructed adjacent to the site of Hopewell’s present facilities and served the congregation until 1978.
