About Us back About Us First Baptist Church Stockdale is a community church with a Kingdom mission. Who we are God has called us to carry the Good News of our Savior to our neighbors in Stockdale, TX and around the world. To fulfill this mission, we work together with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Gambrell Association, and the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Where we come from First Baptist Church Stockdale was organized in 1874 in a picket building. They met there or in a mill house or schoolhouse for years. The Rev. L. S. Cox was the first pastor. In 1885, Under pastor E. N. Norwood, the congregation built its first church building. In 1886 that building was damaged in a storm
