Being the first baptist church in Wilson County, MOBC has gone through a lot of changes; a major one being the name! When first constituted on April 25th, 1801, the church was named Big Cedar Lick Baptist Church. Just shy of a year later, Big Cedar Lick elected their first pastor, Brother Moore Stevenson, on April 23rd, 1802. Big Cedar Lick saw many members and pastors go before electing Brother Elijah W. Haile as the fourth pastor, he served from 1841 to 1845. In 1843, Pastor Haile proposed the name change to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, which was approved by the members.
