High adventure on remote expeditions. | About Me — Jon Turk Jon Turk Jon Turk About Me Jon Turk About me Dr. Jon Turk is a scientist, author, and National Geographic award-winning explorer whose worldview was altered by extended visits with Moolynaut, a Siberian shaman. I earned a Ph.D. in organic chemistry in 1971 and was nominated by National Geographic as one of the Top Ten Adventurers of the Year in 2012. Between these bookends, I co-authored the first college-level environmental science textbook in North America, followed by 35 additional texts, and five books about my adventures.
