With a presence in Chicago, Wellington and Sydney, Tuwhiri publishes books that focus on early Buddhism, its retrieval and a secular adaptation to 21st century conditions PLUS thought-provoking books that are not obviously dharma books but which serve the ethic of care central to the dharma. A word in te reo Māori, TUWHIRI means to disclose, reveal, divulge, make known, or a clue, a means of discovering or disclosing something lost or hidden, a hint, a tip, a pointer. The Tuwhiri Project Ltd is 100% owned by Aotearoa Buddhist Education Trust, a NZ-registered charity. As a social enterprise with no investor shareholders, we focus on our purpose: helping people find meaning in a difficult world. Recently, Tuwhiri also incorporated as a nonprofit in the USA, designated as a 501c3 public charity. In this capacity, we assist with publishing efforts while providing an opportunity for individuals, businesses, foundations and groups to participate through tax-deductible contributions.
