He studied History and Western Religions at San Diego State University where, after a conversion experience, he was received into full communion with the Catholic Church from Evangelical Protestantism. After graduation, Nicholas sold his possessions and moved to Rome for graduate studies in Philosophy and Theology in Italian. In addition to living in Italy, he had the good fortune to live and study in Ireland, England, and Germany and to travel throughout Europe and the Middle East.
