OMOM Church is located in Greater Fifth Ward at 4000 Sumpter Street, Houston Texas 77020 - 713.672.0026 Celebrating over 90 years of Evangelization, Our Mother of Mercy Church of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston began with the arrival of Creoles of French, Spanish and African descent, who relocated from Louisiana to Houston in 1927, after the Great Mississippi flood. They settled in an area that became known as “French Town”, in the heart of Historic Fifth Ward. The Creoles of French Town donated their time and talent to build the Little Mission Church, which is now Our Mother of Mercy. The first mass was celebrated on June 9, 1929. Our Mother of Mercy officially became a Parish on June 30, 1930. Our Current Pastor is Reverend Rodney J. Armstrong, SSJ.
