The Organization of American Historians promotes excellence in the scholarship, teaching, and presentation of American history, and encourages wide discussion of historical questions and equitable treatment of all practitioners of history. About the OAH Distinguished Lectureship Program Created in 1981, the OAH Distinguished Lectureship Program is a speakers bureau dedicated to American history. OAH Distinguished Lecturers speak around the country every year, visiting college campuses, historical societies, museums, and libraries.
