Description
Rita Brent is an award-winning comedian, musician, and military veteran from Jackson, MS. Before her rise in entertainment, she served as a drummer & sergeant in the 41st Army Band. She built a successful broadcasting career, beginning at Jackson State University and Mississippi Public Broadcasting, and is now a weekly contributor on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show. Rita has appeared on Comedy Central, truTV, Circle TV, and more. She tours regularly with comedy giants Cedric the Entertainer and Rickey Smiley. A three-time Writers Guild Award nominee, she has written for the Primetime Emmy Awards, The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and more. Blending comedy, music, and activism, Rita gained viral recognition with songs like “Kamala” and “Can You Rock Me Like a Pothole.” In January 2025, she launched Late Night with Rita Brent on FOX40, which earned its first Southeast Emmy nomination in April 2026. Rita Brent continues to shine as a dynamic voice of humor, creativity, and purpose.
