Description

WQOW News 18, a high-profile ABC-affiliated television station, has made its mark in the media industry since its inception in 1980. Based in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the station is owned and operated by Quincy Newspapers Inc and broadcasts its channel 18 DTV signal on UHF RF channel 15. The station is also affiliated with the CW network and ThisTV movie network on its second and third DTV subchannels respectively, broadening its viewership and content diversity.

WQOW News 18 holds a distinct position in the industry for its commitment to delivering high-definition programming and digital television. It boldly transitioned to digital broadcasting in 2002, ceasing analog television in 2009, long before many of its peers.

The station is renowned for its local newscasts, which started in 1982, known as Newsource 18. After a brief suspension, local newscasts made a comeback in 1996, establishing the station as News 18. This focus on local news content strengthens its ties with the community, setting it apart from competitors.

In 2001, the station moved to its current location on Highway 93, immediately south of Interstate 94 in Eau Claire, following the construction of the new Highway 53 Bypass on its previous site.
