The Daily Item, an esteemed publication of the Essex Media Group (EMG), boasts a rich history of over 140 years. EMG, formed in 2014, took the reins of this family-owned newspaper that has been serving its readers since 1877. Publishing six days a week, The Daily Item remains the cornerstone of EMG's wide-ranging multimedia portfolio.
Over the years, EMG has expanded its offerings by launching three niche magazines - 01907, 01945, and 01940, along with a Spanish-language newspaper, La Voz. They have revitalized North Shore Golf magazine and acquired Lynnfield Weekly News, Peabody Weekly News, and Suburban Real Estate News. Today, their portfolio includes nine publications and a vibrant online platform, itemlive.com, which has seen significant growth.
Comprising seven investors with strong ties to Lynn and the North Shore, EMG employs 40 full-time professionals. Their mission is to reshape and reimagine how news and information are delivered to readers in their coverage area including Lynn, Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Peabody, Saugus, and Swampscott.
