Description
We explain the geology of cycling races, see also our website http://www.geo-sports.org! Professor of Geology Douwe van Hinsbergen, and geologist Marjolein Naudé, both of the Department of Geosciences at Utrecht University, in collaboration with Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands, explain the geology that you see when you watch the Tour de France, and other races. Dinosaurs, volcanoes, mountain belts, and wine terroirs, soil and caves, and a history of thousands to millions to billions of years. All of that passes on your screen when you watch pro Cycling races and this channel explains it to you in short clips. For 2023, we will upload Shorts that explain the geology of Stages 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 12, 14, 17, 19, and 20 of the Men's Tour de France, and stages 2, 4, and 7 of the Tour de France Femmes! They will be presented in English and Dutch by Douwe and Marjolein. These clips aired on ITV4 in the UK and by NOS in the Netherlands during the Tour de France 2023! Enjoy!
