This channel is devoted to in-depth discussion of a major area of polymer physics: polymer mechanics explored at the chain level at both high (liquid) and low (solid) temperatures. While mechanics of polymers in their solid state holds the key to the future of sustainable plastics, nonlinear rheology of polymers in their liquid state is of foremost importance. Physics of Polymer Mechanics, a second book, sequel to NPR, is in writing, to be published by Wily in 2025-2026. Our understanding of polymer ductility and fracture is summarized in this upcoming book.
