A few years ago I cycled from Land's End to John 'O Groats. I wanted a safe route so used Royston Wood's book "End to End Cycle Route – A Safer Way" to plan my journey. The book made a lot of use of the National Cycle Network, which is a series of converted railway tracks, canals, cycle paths and quiet roads connecting the country. Before doing the End to End I had seen National Cycle Route (NCR) signs in various locations but never given them much thought. However, now my wife and I use the map of the network on the Sustrans website to plan holidays. This channel will feature some of our cycles on the Network. Hopefully it will help you plan your safe cycles, make your indoor cycling more interesting or will at the least encourage more of us to use the network. A month cycling in the Netherlands showed us just what is possible if the infrastructure is built. Happy safe cycling!
